Tina Folks is a full-time creative who shares her time between ceramic sculpture, illustration, and gardening, as well as cooking and creative writing. She holds a BA from Marymount College in Tarrytown and a BFA in Ceramic Design from Parsons School of Design in NYC. From 1984-2015, Tina worked exclusively in clay and explored many applications with it. She has been particularly influenced by travels thru the American Southwest, Italy, and Africa, namely Ivory Coast, with its ziggurat-like structures, as well as Kenya and Morocco.
Since 2000, Tina has co-produced several public art projects, notably, We are All Connected, a community fire ceremony, part of the NY State Council on the Arts-funded JumpstART 2014, held at East End Arts in Riverhead. In 2017, she completed MAKE YOUR MARK, a community tiled wall project, permanently installed at Gallery North in Setauket.
Most recently, Tina has returned to the joy of her childhood passion—sketching—capturing the joy and whimsy of everyday life. More of her work can been seen at www.thehummingbirdpost.com/JUST FOLKS, an online artist’s visual journal where Tina has been a contributor since 2016. In addition, she teaches workshops at East End Arts in Riverhead and throughout Long Island.
Together with her husband Bryan, Tina shares a decorative painting and wallpaper business called Fee Fi Faux, Inc., serving the residential market on Eastern Long Island. They live in Patchogue with their 4 feral cats.
